Overview: Stantec's Environmental Remediation group is dedicated to helping our clients reduce their environmental liabilities by developing comprehensive remediation programs. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation and mitigation. Our team member work on a variety of projects, including environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health & ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services. Our structure cultivates career growth and provides opportunities as unique as you are. Responsibilities: This position is for an entry to mid level geoscientist. Candidate will be responsible for a variety of field and office-related tasks. Field tasks will include monitoring well gauging, soil sampling, logging of soil borings and test pits, monitoring well installations, groundwater sampling, remediation oversight, and the supervision of subcontractors (drilling, surveying, remediation, geophysical, etc.). Candidate will assist in the preparation and implementation of health & safety plans, and field sampling plans and Work Plans. Office-related tasks will include assisting with data reduction, data tabulation, preparation of boring logs and geologic cross-sections, preparation of groundwater flow and contaminant isopleth maps, assessment of contaminant fate and transport, data evaluation and report preparation. The position will require supporting field projects primarily in the New York metropolitan area, but travel to other states may be required periodically. Qualifications: The candidate should have a bachelor of science (B.S.) degree in the geologic sciences, or a related environmental field, and will be OSHA 40-hour trained. The candidate will have between 1 and 3 years of professional experience in environmental consulting. The candidate will have a valid US drivers license, a vehicle to support field work and will be proficient in commonly used software (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with NYSDEC DER-10 sampling protocols a plus. |
