Job Description: 

Senior Electrical Engineer:  Position available for a registered professional at a leading renewable energy firm, Solar Design Associates, Inc.

Solar Design Associates (Harvard, MA) is the nation's premier design / engineering firm specializing in renewable energy systems for buildings. Over 25 years, the interdisciplinary firm has earned an international reputation for the pioneering integration of renewable energy systems – especially photovoltaics – with buildings.  Our projects include: the 1st solar-powered Olympics, the US Mission to the UN, the SF Giants Stadium, the 1st solar-powered neighborhood, the 1st zero-energy, solar-powered residence, the 1st zero-energy college academic building, the 1st wind-powered college campus and three solar systems at the White House.  We are currently working on numerous Zero Net Energy projects in MA and throughout the country.

 

SDA is looking for licensed professional Electrical Engineers.  SDA offers motivated engineers the opportunity to join a fast-paced, creatively challenging design team in the rapidly growing field of renewable energy.  Responsibilities include working with our experienced team to design/engineer solar electric and wind energy systems, provide engineering calculations, produce construction documents, field assessments, review feasibility reports, and provide installation oversight and systems commissioning.  You will interface with clients, architects, utility representatives and code officials, as well as oversee and guide up-and-coming engineers in training.  Project involvement will range from custom, energy-autonomous residences to commercial, institutional and retail.  Travel opportunities abound within and outside the US.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US citizenship
  • BSEE or MSEE with experience in building power systems design and/or renewable energy systems design
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and/or other U.S. states, or the ability to register in MA within 4 months of hire required
  • Protective relay with medium and low voltage experience is ideal
  • Ability to manage several projects or tasks simultaneously is required
  • A high level of computer skills and CAD capabilities
  • Accomplished communications skills – written and verbal
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • You thrive on making a contribution and taking on responsibility while learning and employing new skills
